Meeting July 13, 2010

The next Aging & Disability Network meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 13th 2-3:30 p.m. at Saratoga United Methodist Church, 175 5th Avenue, Saratoga Springs. A link to the location is here

If you plan on attending the meeting, please “post a comment” indicating your name and agency. As always, feel free to extend the invitation to others you think would be interested in participating.

This month we will be hearing from a panel of representatives who will be discussing services and assistive technology available to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Panelists will include:

  • Sandie Clark, Service Outreach Ambassador, New York Relay
  • Ben Driscoll, Executive Director, Association for the Hearing Impaired
  • Carrie Snyder, Project Coordinator, Money Follows the Person, Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley
  • Donna Wayner, Ph.D., President, Hear Again, Inc.
  • Grady Aronstam, President, Saratoga Springs Lions Club
I would like to thank First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa for hosting their very first network meeting last month as well as Maurice Padula, Senior Consumer Frauds Representative, Bureau of Consumer Frauds and Protection, Office of New York State Attorney General, who presented on Consumer Fraud.

Note that our next meeting will be held on August 10, 2010 2-3:30 p.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park. Edward V. Wilcenski, Esq. of Jones, Wilcenski & Pleat, PLLC will be presenting on the challenges faced when aging caregivers can no longer advocate for their sons and daughters with a disability (and are often fighting for the same insurance or Medicaid dollar) and some of the advance planning tools that can minimize the risk of this transition.
