Tuesday, August 10th Meeting

Good day!

The next Aging & Disability Network meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 10th 2-3:30 p.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park http://www.stedwardsny.org/directions.html . Please feel free to extend the invitation to others you think would be interested in participating.

Our presenter will be Edward Wilcenski, Esq. of Jones, Wilcenski & Pleat, PLLC. The title of Mr. Wilcenski’s presentation is “The Perfect Storm.” He will be focusing on the challenges faced when aging caregivers can no longer advocate for their sons and daughters with disabilities (and are often fighting for the same insurance or Medicaid dollar) and some of the advance planning tools that can minimize the risk of this transition.

I would like to thank Saratoga United Methodist Church for hosting last month’s meeting as well as Sandie Clark of New York Relay, Ben Driscoll of Association for the Hearing Impaired, Carrie Snyder of Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley, Donna Wayner of Hear Again, Inc., and Grady Aronstamm of Saratoga Springs Lions Club. We received a wealth of information regarding resources for individuals with hearing impairments.

The date of the September meeting will be the 14th 2-3:30 p.m. at Malta Community Center, Ballston Spa. The topic will be Discharge Planning Challenges and Opportunities: Enhancing Transitions of Care. Panelists will include representatives from IPRO, Saratoga and Ellis Hospitals and NYS NY Connects who will discuss local initiatives working to decrease re-hospitalizations. We are looking for your input as well. Please e-mail Chris Stegel by August 10th at cstegel@nyqio.sdps.org with areas you would like addressed by the panel such as how do you get discharge information or are you or your organization having difficulty getting adequate information at the time of discharge.

Have a great week!
