March's presentation topic is entitled "Umbrella of Care." Panelists will present on the variety of long term care services provided in individuals' homes and residential settings to improve or maintain their health and/or daily function. Presenters will include Diane Brown, Administrator for Maplewood Manor, Christine Galka, RN, Case Manager for Home Health Care Partners, Sharon O'Sullivan, RN, Director of Schuyler Ridge Adult Day Health Care, Lorrie Shilling, Director of Marketing for The Wesley Community, and Rebecca Zohn, CDPAP Upstate Director for Concepts of Independence, Inc. We will not have time for announcements so as to give our panelists ample time to speak, however I encourage you to post any upcoming events to the Aging & Disability Network Facebook page.
In the event of inclement weather, Aging & Disability Network will follow the cancellation schedule for the Saratoga County Senior Meal Delivery; if the meal delivery is cancelled, then our meeting will also be cancelled. Cancellations will be posted on most major news networks.
I would like to thank St. Edward the Confessor Church for hosting last month’s meeting as well as the informative presenters Pat Spreitzer, Provider Relations Specialist & Community Liaison, The Community Hospice, and Anne Reed, Director, Mary's Haven. Meeting minutes to follow.
Note that our next meeting will be held on April 12, 2011 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. at Saratoga United Methodist Church, 175 5th Avenue, Saratoga Springs. The topic will be "Neurological Disorders 101" presented by Beth Smith-Boivin, Director of the Alzheimer's/Dementia Resource Program at the Alzheimer's Center at Albany Med. The presentation will include a discussion about the similarities, differences, and resources available for the most common neurological disorders including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Frontotemporal dementia, and Multi-vascular dementia.
