The next meeting of the Aging &
Disability Network is scheduled for Tuesday September 9, 2014 2-3:30 at the
Malta Community Center, 1 Bayberry Drive, Malta. A panel has been
convened to talk about cancer services available in the county. Matthew
Andrus, outreach recruitment/specialist for the Cancer Services Program of
Saratoga County will be talking about the services available through his
program. Wendy Stickley-Ocker from the American Cancer Society will be giving
us an overview of the American Cancer Society as well as information about
screenings, prevention and volunteering. In addition, Eileen Bird from To
Life! will be speaking about her organization which is a non-profit providing
free of charge breast cancer education and supports services.
Our next meeting will
be held Tuesday October 14, 2014 2-3:30 pm at Saratoga Springs United Methodist
Church, 175 Fifth Avenue, Saratoga Springs. Viviana McCarthy from
Care Central-Ellis Medicine will be speaking about Health Homes.
Our November meeting
will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2014 (The 11th is Veterans Day)
at St. Edwards Church , 569 Clifton Park Center Rd, Clifton Park 2-3:30
pm. Brie Giulianelli from the Alzheimer's Association will be presenting
a workshop titled "Conversations about Dementia" The workshop
will offer tips on how to have honest and caring conversations with family members
about going to the doctor, deciding when to stop driving and making legal and
financial plans.
The December meeting
will be held Tuesday December 9, 2014 2-3:30 at the Malta
Community Center, 1 Bayberry Drive, Malta. This will be a networking
meeting. Feel free to bring brochures, business cards and information
about upcoming events for 2015.
