Aging and Disability Network Meeting Minutes 7/14/15

Present: Joanne Zales (National Grid); Jess Flynn (Eddy Daybreak); Caitlin St. George (Eddy VNA); Kym Hance (Home Helpers); Chrissy Goodspeed; Reed Lehan (Saratoga County APS); Rick Amico (Community Hospice); Mary Rickard (Saratoga County OFA).

Introduction: Mary welcomed all attendees, who introduced themselves. The next meeting of the Aging and Disability Network will be held on Tuesday August 11 from 2-330pm at St. Edward's Church in Clifton Park. Dr. Lorraine Del Rosso will be presenting on pain management and nutrition.

Today's Topic and Presenter: Jeff Shinaman, Executive Director of the Academy of Lifelong Learning at Saratoga Springs.

Founded in 1992, The Academy For Lifelong Learning at Saratoga Springs (ALL) is a non-profit member-driven organization with over 350 mature learners who share a love of learning. It is an independent entity, sponsored by SUNY Empire State College and affiliated with the Road Scholar Institute Network. It is designed to stimulate the mind and energize the body in classroom and social settings.
In terms of curriculum, approximately 26 study groups are offered each term in the fields of literature, writing, the arts, computers, religion, science, health, current events, local interest and history depending on the interests of members and availability of leaders. For that, a person receives eligibility to enroll in classes, participation in special events and special interest groups, discounts to local businesses, the monthly ALL newsletter and an opportunity to volunteer and serve on ALL committees.
