The next meeting of the Aging and Disability Network will be held on Tuesday October 13 from 2-330pm at Saratoga United Methodist Church in Saratoga Springs. The September meeting has been cancelled.  The list of topics for 2016 will be decided upon soon.  Please notify Mary or Cindy of any suggestions.

Today's Topic and Presenter: Dr. Lorraine Del Rosso will present on Acute and Chronic Pain Management.

As a Board Certified Nutritionist and Chiropractor, Dr. Del Rosso offers a variety of suggestions based on individual needs.  In addition to manual manipulations, she has been trained in the gentle Activator Methods, Flexion Distraction, and muscular techniques. Chronic conditions which may not have been helped by traditional medicine may ease with a change through nutrition, diet and supplements.  Within a couple of weeks of a diet change, a patient may have an impact (e.g. limiting arachadonic acid (found in red meat) or increasing high fiber and low glycemic fruits and vegetables can all minimize inflammation). Dr. Del Rosso is one of the few practitioners in the area that makes use of a cold low level laser treatment for use in reducing pain
. The cold output doesn't effect the body's tissue thereby decreasing swelling without harming the skin and doesn't need to be used long term.  It works by increasing circulation, which increases oxygen to an area.  The length of treatment is determined by whether its acute or chronic pain (e.g. spinal stenosis or fibromyalgia).  Insurance coverage depends on the provider and plan.  Dr. Del Rosso will provide a no cost consultation.
